Buzz about Won't Get Fooled Again Colette
Shaw's Won't Get Fooled Again is equal parts riveting company mystery
and unabashed romance, with a heroine whose professional success seems
assured-as long as she overcomes her secret attraction to an infamous
rock n' roll musician. But is her new love interest as wild as his looks
suggest? And what shocking secrets have her corporate colleagues been
keeping all these years? The novel's many inventive plot twists lead to
a satisfying ending-but not before a cameo by Gene Simmons nearly leads
the heroine astray. Colette Shaw's first novel is fast-paced and fun!
I look forward to reading her next book. As
an ex-guitarist of the band that both the author and lead character love,
Won't Get Fooled Again kept my attention in a world where rock
& roll, romance and the corporate world collide. This book is smart, sexy
and suspenseful. I highly recommend it. I
can remember a time when rock critics, in their vaunted, high-falutin'
elitism, tended to look down on KISS fans. Thank god for Colette Shaw,
whose work exposes that lie, and proves once and for all that you can
be smart, sophisticated and still wanna rock and roll all nite and party
every day. The
saucy heroine of this fast-moving tale demonstrates the struggle of an
ambitious professional woman to find love as well as career success in
the most daunting of circumstances. I couldn't put it down. Shaw
truly understands the complexity of today's rock & roll fan. The
book is quite the page-turner. I've forgotten what it's like to read a
book that isn't just brimming with inner-psychosis or constant trauma
or just plain depressing themes. Won't Get Fooled Again is fast,
fun, and frisky. I
loved the book! I loved the characterizations and the depth of the sensitivity
in the writing. The imagery painted pictures in my mind beyond anything
I had hoped. I didn't expect the profound understanding of human nature
that I found as I read....Suzanne is delightful. The
character development and dialogue aspects are excellent...natural and
believable...very funny...The main character's private thoughts are delicious...metaphors
are very rich and clever...[Shaw] is a really great writer! You
sure don't look like a college dean! Very
entertaining read. I was completely engaged by the corporate intrigue
and loved the twist at the end.
All I can say is that I'm still in love with Jackson Hellam. |
Don't Forget the Movie...

Living the Fantasy Author
Colette Shaw was featured in the documentary film "Living the Fantasy."
The movie, directed by Spike Lee protegee, Randy Wilkins, was showcased
at the 2004 Old
Dominion Film Festival. Shaw credits the film, which was made
while she was still an aspiring author, with attracting her publisher,
Loose Slips Press. Not
since "This is Spinal Tap" has a finer piece been produced! I just watched Colette's
movie. How great!.... She is amazing! [Shaw
is] interesting and winning onscreen, which is not true of every documentary
subject, but key to documentary films. |
