FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: Dean Colette Shaw LANCASTER AUTHOR/DEAN AND NEW YORK FILMMAKER DEBUT 30-MINUTE DOCUMENTARY FILM. Lancaster, PA, November 1, 2003 - When "girl-next door"/Franklin & Marshall College Dean, Colette Shaw, confronted her heavy metal alter ego through her writing, a film was born... Living The Fantasy is a 30-minute documentary that is a collaboration of Lancaster's own, Colette Shaw, and successful filmmaker and director of last year's 100% Live, and the recently released Kaleidoscope, Randy Wilkins. The piece documents Ms. Shaw's struggle to find inner peace and acceptance within a conservative academic community when she chooses to write a decidedly unscholarly "rock-n-roll novel". The film portrays both sides of Shaw's personality; including an insider's look at one of her many visits to a national KISS convention. "It's not like I was trying to hide something," Shaw says. "Both worlds are very real to me. I can't imagine living without my passion for higher education, but the people close to me know that loud guitars get me through the hard times. Writing this book Won't Get Fooled Again seemed to bring my worlds together. I think a lot of people can relate to having secret parts of themselves that don't necessarily make sense. As I search for a publisher now, I now feel like I am somehow fulfilling my destiny." Living The Fantasy will premier at Franklin & Marshall College at 8pm on Saturday, November 1st. The free event is open to the public and, following the screening; the audience will be invited to a live performance by KISS tribute band, Cold Gin. Cold Gin will perform in full KISS makeup and costumes at Grinders Night Club in Elizabethtown, PA. Cover charge, $6.
