~The Semi-Grown-Up Version~

February, 2007

Friends,

For the second year in a row, I missed the February 14 deadline for my Valentine. I've had a great year, but I must admit that it was a lot easier to gush about my life when I was single. Being fabulous is a breeze when everyone secretly pities your spinster life. Now I have fun and love since there is the wonderful Rod. Blathering on about traveling and rock & roll has been replaced in my life hierarchy by comfort food and grown-up conversation. I miss superficiality sometimes, but I'll dig down deep to see if I can summon some frivolous fluff for '07.

Goodbye, Gene.
Hello Genes!

After moving to Rochester, NY last spring, I started a search for a new job. I had been reading Phil Jacksonís most recent book about life as an NBA coach (my dream job), so it seemed like fate when I landed a teaching position that included a personal coaching component at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I teach five classes of freshmen all the basics about academics, integrity and glamour goals.

The weekend before I started at RIT, I flew to Myrtle Beach for one last hobnob with Gene Simmons of KISS. Little did I know that RIT had made plans to pair me with the Biotechnology department, so genes would be a part of my new life, too. Fate has a funny sense of humor.
